1997 LAWS OF MARYLAND

REVISOR'S NOTE: Former § 1-101 is not retained in the Code because it appears
to be obsolete. However, it is transferred to the Session Laws to avoid any
inadvertent substantive effect its repeal might have.

SECTION 4. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That Section(s) 3 of Article 75
- Pleadings, Practice and Process at Law of the Annotated Code of Maryland be repealed
and reenacted, with amendments, and transferred to the Session Laws, to read as follows:

[3.] 1.

In suits brought upon any instrument or writing under seal executed on and after
June 1, 1914, any person entitled to sue or liable to be sued thereon but for such seal,
shall be entitled to sue and liable to be sued notwithstanding such seal.

SECTION 5. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the Laws of Maryland
read as follows:

Article 1 - Rules of Interpretation

IN GENERAL

1.

The adoption of this Code shall not affect or impair any right, vested or acquired
and existing at the time of its adoption, nor shall it impair, discharge or release any
existing contract, obligation, duty or liability of any kind whatsoever. All pending suits,
actions and prosecutions for crimes or misdemeanors, including all civil and criminal
proceedings whatsoever, shall be prosecuted and proceeded with to final determination,
and judgment entered therein as if this Code had not been adopted.

SECTION 6. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That Section(s) 1 and 2,
respectively, of Article 94 - Time of the Annotated Code of Maryland be transferred to
be Section(s) 35 and 36, respectively, of Article 1 - Rules of Interpretation of the
Annotated Code of Maryland, to be under the new subtitle "Time".

SECTION 7. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the following Sections of
the Annotated Code of Maryland be repealed:

Article 2 - Agents and Factors, § 20 and the article name "Article 2 - Agents and
Factors"

Article 10 - Legal Officials, §§ 33A through 33F, inclusive, and the subtitles "State
Prosecutor" and "State Prosecutor Selection and Disabilities Commission"

Article 16 - Chancery, §§ 107, 127, and 169 and the article name "Article 16 -
Chancery"

Article 17 - Clerks of Courts, §§ 4 and 66 through 74, inclusive, and the article name
"Article 17 - Clerks of Courts"
