John R Andrews the grantee named in the aforegoing Bill of Sale and made oath on the Holy
Evangely of Almighty God, that the consideration mentioned in the aforegoing Bill of Sale,
is true and Bona fide as therein set forth.

State of Maryland                     Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that the following
Exd   from                                (Stamp)   Bond was received and recorded on the 19th day of July 1853
James E. Douglass & others      (Six dols.)   to wit
                                                                                  Know all men by these presents, that we James
E. Douglass Josiah Carroll, Isaac Davis, Robert G. Rawleigh, Silas Fleming, Henry D. Wright
James Davis, Charles W. Carroll, James R. Nicols, Sylvester H. Smith & Thomas Hackett of Dorchester
County in the State of Maryland, are held and firmly bound unto the State of Maryland in the
full and just Sum of Twenty Thousand five Hundred and twenty five dollars and twenty seven
cents current money of the united States, to be paid to the said State or its Certain attorney, to the which
payment well and truly to be made and done we bind ourselves and each of us, our and each of our heirs
executors and administrators jointly and severally firmly by these presents, sealed with our seals and
dated this Seventh day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty two
The Condition of the above obligation is such that if the above bounden James E. Douglass appointed Collector
of the Direct Tax for Dorchester County Shall well and faithfully execute the office of Collector of the
Direct tax for said County and the several duties required of him by law and shall well and truly
account for, and pay to the Treasurer of Maryland, the several Sums of money, which he shall receive or
be answerable for by law at Such time as the law shall direct, then the above obligation to be void, or
else to be and remain in full force and virtue in law.
