in the just and full sum of five
thousand three hundred and thirty three
dollars thirty three and one third cents
current money to be paid to the said state
of maryland or its certain attorney to
which payment well and truly to be made
and done we bind ourselves and each of
us our and each ^of^ our heirs executors and
administrators jointly and severally
firmly by these presents sealed with our
seals and dated this sixth day of august
in the year eighteen hundred and fifty
five.  The condition of this obligation is
such that if the above bound Thomas
B. Hobbs shall faithfully perform the
office of Register of Wills in and for
Howard county then this obligation
to be void otherwise to be and remain
in full force and virtue in law

Affidavit of
D.r James Cheston
Anne Arundel cty state of
maryland  on this fourth
day of Jan.y 1856 personally
appeared before me the subscriber a justice
of the Peace for the county aforesaid Doctor
James Cheston who made oath on the Holy
Evangely of Almighty God that the bearer
Henry Johnson a Negro boy about eighteen
years old five feet four inches high dark
col.d having a scar upon his right hand
between the thumb and forefinger is the
same boy son of sophy Johnson who was
Manumitted by deed of J. Nevett steele
& Mary Murray dated the sixteenth day
