I hereby certify that on this 26th day of October 1859 personally
appeared before the subscriber a Justice of the Peace of Frd Co
aforesaid James L Davis and B A Cunningham Trustees of M
Davis and acknowledged the foregoing bill of sale to be their act

I hereby certify that Lemuel Carmack Esquire before whom
the aforegoing Acknowledgement was made and who has thereto
subscribed his name was at the time of so doing a Justice of
the Peace of the state of Maryland in and for Frederick County
duly elected commissioned and sworn
                             In testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe
    [seal's place]      my name and affix the seal of the Circuit
                              Court for Frederick County this 26th day of
                              October A D 1859

Littleton Macklin
         Bond to
State of Maryland
Know all men by these presents that
we Littleton Macklin, James Walters
Phillip Smallwood, William Welling
and Henry Forsyth all of Howard County
and the State of Maryland are held and firmly bound unto
the State of Maryland and in the full and just sum of ten thousand
dollars current money to be paid to the said state or to its
certain attorney or assigns to which payment well and truly
to be made and done we bind ourselves and each of us
our and each of our heirs executors and administrators in
the whole and for the whole jointly and severally firmly by
these presents sealed with our seals and dated this eleventh
day of October November in the year of our Lord Eighteen
hundred and fifty nine.   Now the condition of the above
obligation is such that if the above bound Littleton Macklin
shall faithfully execute his office as Treasurer of Howard
County and well and truly account for and pay over to
the Treasurer of Maryland the several sums of money
which he shall receive or be accountable for at
such times as the Law directs then this obligation
