       I hereby certify that Samuel Carmack Esquire before
whom the aforegoing Acknowledgment was made and who
has thereto subscribed his name was at the time of so doing
A Justice of the Peace of the State of Maryland in and for
Frederick County duly elected Commissioned and Sworn
                 In Testimony Whereof I hereunto subscribe my

William Dempsey
Mortgage of Chattels to
William A. Webb
 This Mortgage made this twenty
eighth day of February in the
year eighteen hundred and sixty
by William Dempsey of Howard
County in the State of Maryland Witnesseth.  Whereas
William A Webb of Said County Stands bound Jointly
with the said William Dempsey to a certain Joseph
L Russell for the payment of two notes of hand or obligations
dated the first day of April eighteen hundred and
fifty eight one for the sum of three hundred and forty two
dollars and fifty cents with interest payable on the first
day of August Eighteen hundred and fifty nine and
the other for a like sum of three hundred and forty two dollars
and fifty cents with interest payable on or about the
first day of August Eighteen hundred and Sixty and to
secure and indemnify the said William A. Webb from loss
or injury by reason of said liability the said William
Dempsey has agree to make and execute this mortgage
now therefore in consideration of the above premises and
also of the sum of one dollar the said William Dempsey
doth hereby bargain and sell to the said William A Webb
the following property namely one grey horse one bay horse
one Spotted Cow one red cow one brindle yearling heiffer
one brood sow nine shoats one wagon with bed bows and
sheet two sets hind gears two sets plow gears one harrow
one barshear plow four shovel ploughs all my crop of
corn in the lofts and rye in the grainery one stock of hay
