to the Contrary Notwthstandinge. And for the establishing a
rule for all conveyances for the future Bee itt Enacted by the
Authority aforesd, tht noe Estate of Inheritance of any howses
or Lands shall pass but by Deed in writing in wch the Habendum
shall Lymitt the Estate in these or the like words (viz!) To haue
and to hold to the Grantee & his heires for ever, If they intend
an Estate in Fee Simple, or to haue and to hold &c. to him & the
heires of his body or to him & the heires male of his body re-
spectively if they intend an Estate in Fee Tayle genall or Fee
Tayle speciall respectively (Except in Lands given by Last
Will & Testamt, in writing in wch any words amounting to or
signifying as much as the former shall accord to the Law & Cus-
tome of England be sufficient to vest an Estate in Fee Simple
or Fee Tayle Respectively in the Devize.
And bee it further enacted by the Lord Proprietary by & wth
the advize & Consent of the vppr & Lower howse of theis As-
sembly That for the Tyme to come noe Mannors Lands Tenemts
or other hereditamts shall pass alter or change from one to
another wthin this pvince whereby an Estate of Inheritance or
Freehold shall be made or take Effect in any pson or psons or
any vse thereof to be made by reason only of any bargayne &
Sale thereof except the sd bargayne & Sale be made by writeing
Indented Sealed & enrolled in the Proall Cort of this pvince or
else wthin the same County or countyes where the same Man-
nors Lands, Tenemts or hereditamts (soe bargayned & Sold) lye
& be before the Commissrs of each respective County Cort And
the Clke of the Courte for the Tyme being in Cort sitting & the
same Enrollmt to be had & made wthin six Moneths next
after the date of the said wryting Indented, And the such Clke of
the Cort for the Tyme beinge wthin euy such County shall
sufficiently Enroll & Ingrosse the same Deeds & writings in-
dented as aforesd, And the Rolles thereof att the end of euy
yeare shall bee by him returned into the Secretary's office of
this pvince there for ever to remayne to the intent tht any pson
haveing to doe therewth may thither resorte & soe the Effect &
Tenor of euy such wryteing soe enrolled as aforesd Provided
that this Lawe nor anything therein contayned barre not
the Lord Proprietor nor his heires for their clayme to any Lands
in this pvince not held by Pattent vndy the greate Scale of this
Province.
