Netherlands under the Dominion of the States of the Seaven
Provinces & a Subject of the Nation aforesaid having Trans-
ported himselfe into this Province here to Inhabit hath
besought vs to Graunt him the said Mense Stykellkan leave
here to Inhabit, & as a free denizon freedome land to him &
his heyres to Purchase Know ye That we willing to give due
Incouragmt to the Subjects of that Nacon doe hereby declare
him the said Mense Stykellkan to be a free denizon of this
our Province of Maryland, And doe further for us our
heyres & Successors straitly Enjoyne Constitute Ordaine &
Comand That the said Mense Stykellkan in all things be held
treated reputed & Esteemed as one of the faithfull people of
us our heyres & Successors borne within this our said Province
of Maryland And likewise & lands Tenemts Revenues Services
& other hereditaments whatsoever within our said Province
of Maryland may Inheritt or otherwise purchase, receive, take,
have, hold, buy & possesse And that he may occupy & Enjoy,
Give, Sell, Alien & bequeath As likewise all Libertyes ffran-
chises & Priviledges of this our Province of Maryland freely
quietly & peaceably have & possesse Occupy & Enjoy as our
faithfull people borne or to be borne within our said Province
of Maryland without the lett rnolestacon Vexacon or griev-
ance of us our heyres & Successors Any Custome to the con-
trary hereof in any wise notwithstanding Given att or Citty of
Sr Maryes under our great Seale of our said Province of Mary-
land this Eighth day of May in the 43th yeare of our Dominion
Lib. R. R.

Whereas our Trusty & welbeloved Nephew Baker Brooke
Esqr our Surveyor Genll of our said Province of Maryland
hath Informed us that in regard all Comissions of Survey
within our said Province to his deputies are derived from him
And that if in case he should happen to have any land Sur-
veyed for his owne use by any of his deputies he is doubtfull
such Survey might in after tymes prove invalid & be lyable &
Subject to Controversies & disputes ffor the prvention whereof
he hath humbly Requested us to Authorize every one of his
deputyes (by our Comission under our great Seale of our said
Province of Maryland) to Survey such lands as of right ought
& shall from tyme to tyme be Surveyed & Graunted to him
