are hereby appoint [ed a Comittee] to inspect and peruse the
Laws of this province, and make [their] reporte to the next
Session of Assembly.
Ordered the said Comittee meet some tyme the next pro-
vinciall Court, at the Porte of Annapolis, and that Wm Bladen
be their Clarke.

House adjourned for two hours.
Post Meridiem The house met.
By his Excy the Govr and Councill July the 8th 1697

The Message last night by Mr Clarke, Major Hamond &c
was received, as also that by Col: Codd, Capt Tasker and Mr
Clarke this morning Sent wherein this house prays some
further tyme to consider of a certain Bill therein menconed.
This Board do therefore reconiend that they dispatch the other
business now lying before them, and bring up the Severall
bills engrossed that some Speedy end may be put to this
present Sessions.

Severall members Justices of the provinciall Court and
others appointed a Comittee to apportion the publique Levy
Vizt Mr Robt Mason, Mr Philip Clarke, Mr Robt Smith Col. St
Leger Codd, Major John Hamond, Capt Richd Hill, Major
Willm Dent, Mr Edwd Boothby, Mr Mathew Scarborough, Mr
John Pollard, Col: Aug Herrman, and Mr Wm Hatton who
are to meet at the porte of Annapolis the 2nd day of Octobr
next They or the Major part of them to apportion the
publique Levy. Ordered Willm Bladen as clarke to the said
Comittee
Major Smithson informs the house that he is publiq" Treas-
urer for the Eastern Shoar, he has 12200l tob: in his hands by
the imposition upon offices

A Bill for repealing the act agt Strikeing of Fish in Dor-
chester and Somersett Countyes, read three tymes and passed,
A Bill for assessing the publiqe Charge of this province,
read three tymes & passed.
The house adjourned themselves for an hour, And Mr
Speaker and the .rest of the members go up to his Excy and
carry with them the following Bills Vizt
A Bill for san[ctifying and keeping holy] the Lords day
comonly called Sunday.
A Bill [Supplementary to] the Act for raising a Supply for
defraying [the publique charge] of this province.
A Bill prohibiting all manner] of prophane swearing and
cursing.
