inces of Canterbury and York by himselfe or Clerk read four
times a year all penall Laws of this Province made for pun-
ishment of Vice together with his said Matys Royall Letter
within their Severall and respective Parishes on penalty of
Two Thousand pounds of Tobbacco to be recovered as afd to
the use aforesaid Be it Likewise Enacted by the Authority
aforesaid by and with the Advice and Consent aforesaid That
no Ordinary keeper or any other Master or Mistress of a
family from and after the time aforesd either directly or indi-
rectly by any Colour or pretence whatsoever (unless in Cases
of Absolute necessity) shall or may upon the Lords day sell
any strong liquor whatsoever to any person whatsoever or
knowingly or wittingly suffer or permitt in or about his her or
their house or houses any tipling drunkenness Gaming Exer-
cise or patience whatsoever as aforesaid being Convicted
thereof by two Sufficient Wittnesses shall forfeitt the Sufne of
two Thousand pounds of Tobbo one Moiety thereof to our
Sovereigne Lord the King his heires and Successors to the

use aforesaid the other halfe to him or them that shall sue for
the same to be recovered as aforesaid and if an Ordinary
Keeper to loose his Licence.
And it is hereby further Enacted that the Severall Clarks
of the Severall County Courts within this Province be obliged
hereby to Suffer & Permitt the severall Clerks of the severall
Vestrys to take Copys of all and singular the Acts of
Assembly relateing to religion Gratis without takeing or
receiving any ffee therefore under penalty of Two Thousand
pounds of Tobacco to such County Clerk refuseing the same
to the use aforesd to be recovred as afd

To his most Excellent Majesty &c Dread Sovereigne

From the Sincerity of our humble and Loyall hearts we offer
to your Sacred person our most Dutifull and sincere Thanks
for your Royall Care and protection to us, for your Maties
Princely Zeale and pious Care of our Mother the Church of
England and Extending your Royall benediction to our neigh-
bouring Colony your Maties Subjects & Territory of Virginia
in your gratious Grant and Charter for the propagation of the
Colledge or place of universall Study in that your Matys said
Colony. In humble Contemplacon whereof and being Excited
by his present Excellency Francis Nicholson Esqr Your Maties
Governor of this your Province, his Zeal for your Maties
