be a Comittee appointed for inspecting the Law for officers
fees and make Reporte thereof to the house.
Proposed whether it be not reasonable that the Iournall of
the last Sessions be inspected to discover wt Referrences there
are to this Assembly.
Resolved that the Clk make search into the Iournall and
prsent to the house a list of such references as shalbe found.
The Journall being accordingly inspected and one refer-
rence found relateing to Horse Rangers &c which being read.
It is resolved that a Bill be prepared for that purpose.
Another referrence upon the peticon of Edward Lademore
of Caecill County was read, the further consideracon whereof
is referred till the said Laddemore and his wife appeare here
according to a former order of this house.
The Honble Thoms Brooke Esqr Collo Jno Addison Collo John
Courts, Collo Edwd Loyd, Mr James Saunders and Collo Wm
Holland enters the house and delivers the following Message
to Mr Speaker.

By his Excy the Governeur and Councill,
March17th 1701/2
Gent:
The Law proposed tor Establishment of Religious Worship
in this province returned from his most Sacred Maty with the
Right honble the Lord Commrs of Trade and plantacons Lre :
therewith as allsoe his Matys Lre : requireing yor contribucon
to the defence of the Frontieres of the province of New Yorke
by a Quota of men and money which his Excy recomended to
you in what he was pleased to say last night to you upon yor
comeing up are now sent downe unto you for consideration.
And your concurrence and Resolucons thereupon are de-
sired with as much Speed as conveniently may be.

Which being read it is Resolved that for as much as it is a
matter of great moment and weight and not haveing a full
house the members of two Countys being wanting the Con-
sideracon thereof is further referred till there be a full house.
And ordered that Major Wm Dent and Major Thos: Smith
imediatly attend his Excy and Councill to comunicate to them
such the occasion of not returning soe Speedy an Answer as
might otherwise been expected.
A Referrence of the last sessions relateing to the Grand
lury's and their speedy attendance on the Provll Court &c.
was here read.
