                  210 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1706.

           

      Lib. C. B.  be reenacted Declaring the Same to be in fforce untill her

                  Matys Pleasure knowne.

                    Whereupon his Excellency asks the Board if they think it

                  Advisable to call the Assembly at this time to lay this Matter

                  before them to which the Board do say they think not, being

                  a very busye time in getting in the Cropps & for that the last

                  Law Suspending will not determine untill the next year, when

                  there will be occasion for an Assembly at which time this

                  Matter may be laid before them & Provided for.

           p. 63  His Excellency acquaints the Board that he had receiv'd

                  her Matys Directions for Regulating the Courts of Justice in

                  this province as suitable as may be to the practice and Con

                  stitution of England, And that there be four Itinerant Justices

                  go Circuits & one of the Councill to preside: And whereas

                  this matter must be recomended to the next Session of

                  Assembly on their Meeting propose whether it may not be

                  convenient to have a Consultation of the following Gentle

                  men vizt Robert Smith Esqr Lt Col Wm Holland & Kenelm

                  Cheseldyn Esqr of the honble her Matys Councill; Colonel

                  Thomas Smithson & Col Thomas Smith Justices of the Pro

                  vincial Court William Bladen Attorney General, George

                  Plater Esqr & Cornelius White Gent. Attrnys of the provincial

                  Court, to propose Some Method and Draw a Scheme thereof.

                  The Board do say they believe it very proper to have such

                  Consultation and desire his Exllncy will require the said Gentn

                  to meete at Annapolis the third day of October next then &

                  there to consult and advise thereon.

                    His Exncy acquaints the Board that the Rt honble their Lord-

                  ships the Lords of Trade and plantations had Signifyed to

           p. 64  him her Matys Royall pleasure, that she had been pleasd to

                  approve of his proposall in Relation to Mr Bladen to be her

                  Attorney Genl of this province at the Sallary of One hundred

                  pounds p Annum.

                    His Exncy acquaints the Board that their Lordships the Lords

                  of Trade & Plansacons had directed him to recoihend to the

                  Assembly that the Quakers in this Province should be obliged

                  to contribute to the Charge of the Militia here, which he in

                  tended the next Session.

                    His Exncy also acquaints the Board that Colonel Blakiston

                  Agent for this Province had purchased and Sent in One hun

                  dred Musquetts fifty Carabines and two Halberts.

                    And now His Exncy was pleased to aske the Advice of the

                  Board to what tyme they thinke it may be convenient at prsent

                  further to prorogue the Assembly. And they advise his Exncy

                  to the 25th of Novemb: next.

                    After which being askt if they had any thing further at

                  prseflt to offer for her Matys Service. They Say not.
