night Whereby his Exncy The Guarde & all the Inhabitants Lib. C. B. of this Towne were alarmed and the Sherriff obliged to send a Boate and hands to know the reason. And Notwith standing that the Said Hill was advised by Mr Thomas Docwra sent to him by the Sherriff to desist fireing any more, he would not take any Notice thereof, but fired Severall more Saying p. 7t he did it for his pleasure and what was it to any Body this Boarde do take it to have been in Contempt of the Govern ment and to Affront his Excellency the Governour. And thereupon do order that Major Josiah Wilson High Sherriff of Ann Arundell County do go to the said Mr Hills House and Search the Same and take away all the Armes he shall find there and deliver them to Capt John Young Master Gunner and Store keeper of her Majtys Magazine in the Towne and port of Annapolis to be there Secured untill his Exncy and this Boarde shall have better Assurance of Mr Hills behaviour. Ordered likewise that Mr Hill be Somoned to appear imediately before the Board to Ansr his Contempt. Mr Cheseldyn acquaints his EXUCY that the Chaptico Indians had lately been with him and that old Robin who managed for the Queen being very aged and not careing further to trouble himself with that Government and the Queen herself not able to rule them they had unanimously chosen Robin Montague to Govern them as their King untill the two Young princes should Come to age and desired him to obtain his Excellencys permission he should so. His Exncy with the Advice of the Boarde was pleased to aprove thereof and Ordered the said Mr Cheseldyn to acquaint the said Indians that he consented thereto. Sundry Letters Examinations & Depositions Warrants and p. 72 returnes being Reade at the Boarde against Samuel Marke & Isaack Marrett and Joseph Tompson it fell under the Con sideration of the Boarde in what maner the best Satisfaction should be given the Nanticoke Indians upon the late Roberry by the said Mallett and others of their Quiacosan house. And the board do resolve that it will be great Satisfaction to the Indians to be present at the tryall and therefore think it not convenient to have the Said prisoners Tryed untill the said Indians can have Notice and be present. Coll John Hamond & Coll Edward Lloyd appointed each of them Major Generalls to Comand the Militia the one of the Westerne & the other of the Easterne Shore And the said Comissions being prepared His Exncy Signed them and gave them to the said Gentn being then at the Councill Board telling them he hoped they would so well discharge the Trust in them reposed That he Expected he should find great Ease and Satisfaction.
