Suffer it for there was three hundred men in Baltemore County that was now ready if Occasion was that would stand by him nay said he they are so intent upon the matter that they are scouring up their rusty pistolls which I think fit to acquaint you with it and would desire you to show this Letter to his Excy for if he speaks truth, there ought to be some Care taken for the prevention of such Wicked designe this being all at present from Sr What I have here written Your most humble Servt I am ready to make Oath to John Duvall which I think ought to be taken Notice of. The said Letter was Subscribed
March 27th 1708. Then was Mr John Duvall Sworne on the holy Evangelists and deposed that what is incerted in the above Letter is true. Jurat Coram me Samll Young
Whereupon the Councill Advise his Excy to Issue a War rant from this Boarde to apprehend the said William Chew and bring him before his Excy to be Examine. The War rant to be Directed to Majr John Freeman. There being but seven of the members of this Board living within this Province His Excy with the Advice of the Gentn of the p. 115 Councill now present was Obliged to send for Mr Samuel Young of Ann Arundell County who came and having taken and Subscribed the Usuall oaths and Test for security of the Government and that of one of her Majestys Councill within this Province tooke his place at the board. The Sherriff of Ann Arundell County by Order of his Excy the Governour brought Richard Clarke before the Board Who presented himselfe in most Suppliant Manner and being Examined of his practices and Accomplices therein against this her Matys Government Offerred to discover Sev- erall psons who had entertayned him and Associated with him since his Outlawry and Attainder But after the Board had had a great Deale of patience with them in Expectation of a full free and Ingenious Confession He not offering any thing worthy their further Consideration or that might any ways induce them to thinke him worthy of her most Sacred Matys Royall Mercy, He was Comitted to her Matys Goall in the Custody of the aforesaid Sherriffe of Ann Arundell County. Resolved this Board will meete again to morrow morning.
