ing to the Inhabitants of this Province are lyable to pay Any
former Act or Statute to the Contrary notwithstanding.

On the behalf of her Majty &ca I will this be a Law.

An Act impowering a Comittee to lay Assess and Apportion
the public Levy of this present year Seventeen hundred and
ffour.

Whereas this present Generall Assembly have for the
defraying the publiq Charges of this province to this third
day of October Anno Dmi. Seventeen hundred and four rais'd
a Certain Sume of Tobacco and mony amounting to the Sume
of three hundred thirty six thousand seven hundred ninety
four pounds of Tobacco & ffourteen hundred thirty four pounds
Eight Shillings and nine pence half penny in Mony but by

reason more publiq Charges may arise and grow due before
the usuall and accustom'd time of payment which is the tenth
day of October yearly untill which time to continue the whole
Assembly sitting for that occasion only would be very Charge-
able and troublesome to the whole province in Generall for
the prevention whereof.
Be it enacted by the Queens most excellent Majesty by and
with the Advice and Consent of her Majestys Governour
Councill and Assembly of this Province and the Authority of
the same that Colonel Thomas Smith a Delegate for Kent
County Mr Samuel Young Mr Joseph Hill and Major Charles
Greenberry for Ann Arundell County together with Colonell
John Hamond of her Majestys honourable Councill or the
Major part of them shall be and appear at the Town of
Annapolis sometime as to them shall seem Convenient between
the second day and last day of October Instant then and there
to lay and assess what further Charges may accrew which to
them shall justly appear to be due from the publiq not exceed-
ing the Sum of ffifty thousand pounds of Tobacco and one
hundred pounds in mony more than what is already raised and
likewise to Apportion order and pay out of the publiq Treasury
