454 Assembly Proceedings, Oct. 5-9, 1714.

Laws now in force be revised & considered And if there be
any thing either in the matter or Stile of them which may be
retrenched or altered you are to represent the same unto us
with your opinion touching the sd Laws now in force whereof
you are to send a compleat Body unto us and to our Com-
mission" for Trade & Plantations with such Alterations as you
shall think requisite to the End our Approbation or disallow-
ance may be signifyed thereon
Advised by the Board that the sd Instruction be forthwith
sent to the House of Delegates
And the same being copyed out & Signed by his Excel-
lency as a true Copy of the original was sent to the Delegates
by Lt Col Samuel Young & Lt Col Thomas Addison with the
following message Viz.

By his Excellency the Governour & Council
October the 6th 1714
Gentlemen.

We send you herewith a Copy of one of her most sacred
Majesty's royal Instructions to her present Governour of this
her Province wherein she is pleased to direct that all the Laws
thereof should be revised, and a compleat Body sent unto
her Majesty and the Commrs of Trade and desire you would
give your Directions to that purpose to your Committee of
Laws

The Council adjourned till ten of the Clock to morrow

Thursday October the 7th 1714
The Council Sate Present as yesterday
Col Hoskins and Major Storey came with Mr John Phelps
Naval Officer of Potowmack to see him sworn to his Accompts
And the said Mr Phelps in their presence made Oath to his
Collections of this present year to the second of October Instt
His Excellency taking notice that he has observed lighted
Candles in the offices in the Court House Ordered that no

Clerk or any other person presume to carry a lighted Candle
or any other fire into any Office in the Court House, And
that Mr John Beale Clerk of the Secretary's office take Care
to have the back door of the House locked every Evening
before day light be Shut in and to open the said Door within
half an hour after Sun rise every morning
Mr Tyler and Seven other Delegates brought from their
House the following Message Viz.
