Annapolis in the Province of Maryland on Thursday the
fourteenth day of May in the fifth year of the Reign of our
Sovereign Lord King George &c. And in the fourth of his

The Gentlemen of the Lower House Acquainted his Ex-
cellency there are a Sufficient number of Burgesses mett to
make a House

Thereupon Ordered that Col^o Samuel Young & Col^o Ric^d
Tilghman go to the Lower House and administer According
to Act of Assembly the severall Oaths Appointed to be taken
to the Government to the severall members of that house, And
that the Clerk of this House attend them.
The af ^d Gentlemen appointed return and say they have Ad-
ministred the severall Oaths appointed to be taken as af^d to
the severall Members of the Lower House that were present
being forty Eight and that they have Subscribed the Test
according to Law And the Oath of Abjuration
His Excellency Orders CoP W^m Holland and Matthew
Tilghman Ward Esq^r to acquaint the Lower House, that he
Requires them Imediately to Attend him in the Councill
Chamber.
Who Return & Say they Delivered the Message
Whereupon the Gentlemen of the Lower House appearing
His Excellency requires them to return to their own House
and make Choice of a Speaker.

Thereupon his Excellency Directs Col Samuel Young &
Henry Lowe Esq^r to Acquaint the lower house, he Requires
