tute of such a Supply of Provisions as is absolutely necessary for
their Support. A Want that cannot but be attended with the Great-
est Inconveniencies, and which if not immediately provided for, must
be productive of All the bad Events arising from Mutiny and
Desertion
As the Article of Provisions is what is mentioned in the Duke of
Newcastles Letter, as particularly recommended by his Majesty to
the Assembly of this Province, It is my Duty to lay this Matter
before you, not doubting, but you will give it the most serious Con-
sideration, and resolve upon such a speedy and sufficient Supply, as
you will judge necessary for the Support of Our Levies, that they
may be freed from the Apprehensions of having the Calamity of
Hunger added to the Distresses of a Cold and rigorous Climate
This Affair, Gentlemen, is the Only Motive of Our present Meet-

ing, I hope therefore that you will enter upon the Consideration of it,
without Loss of Time, that you may the sooner return to Your
Familys, and be the less exposed to the Inclemency of the Season
Messrs Key and Gresham from the Lower house acquaint his Ex-
cellency that their House hath made Choice of Mr Michael Mac-
nemara for their Clerk in the Room of Mr William Tilghman who
hath resigned, and hopes for his Excellencys Approbation, to whom
His Excellency is pleased to declare that He approves of their
Choice
Messrs Key and Gresham from the Lower House attend with
Mr Macnemara Clerk of the said House in Order to see him Quali-
fied; who takes the several Oaths to the Government required by
Law, repeats and subscribes the Abjuration and Test, and also takes
the Usual Oath of Office
Adjourned till three of the Clock in the Afternoon

of Assembly passed last Session, for maintaining and conveying the
Forces raised in this Province, to Albany in the Province of New
