Mess.rs Chaplin and Gant attend with James Smith Member
Elected for Fred.k County to see him Qualified who takes the Oaths
to the Government appointed to be taken by Act of Assembly repeats
and Subscribes the Abjuration and Test and then withdraws.
Adjourn'd till 3 of the Clock in the Afternoon

The following Message is sent by Jn.o Ridout Esq.r
By the Upper House of Assembly 26.th Sept.r 1765
Gentlemen
We approve of the Measures in sending Commissioners from this
Province to meet such as have been appointed in the other Colonies
in order to Consult together on the present Circumstances of the
Colonies and the Difficulties to which they are and must be reduced
by the Operation of the late Acts of Parliament for Levying Duties

and Taxes on the Colonies and to Consider of a General and United
dutiful Loyal and humble Representation of their Condition to his
Majesty and the Parliament and to implore Relief and therefore
Shall Chearfully Concur in an Ordinance for the Payment of £500
Current Money by the Treasurer of the Western Shore into the
hands of the Gentlemen mentioned in Your first Message but We
cannot concur even in a Vote and much less in an Ordinance of
unlimited Credit and expect that Care will be taken in framing an
Ordinance for the payment and application of the above Sum of
Money, that the Commissioners may be directed to lay a particular
Account of their Disbursements thereof together with the Proceed-
ings they shall join in with the Commissioners of the other Colonies
before the General Assembly of this Province as soon as Conve-
niently may be Should an Expence be incurred in the Execution of
the above Measure exceeding the £500. We presume upon its Pro-
priety appearing a Future Provision may be made

Mess.rs Mackall and Dent attend with an Ordinance for the pur-
poses therein mentioned, which Ordinance being Read is sent back
by Dan.l Dulany Esq.r with the following Message.
By the Upper House of Assembly 26th Sept.r 1765.
Gentlemen
We agree to the Ordinance proposed if made agreeable to Our
last Message; Viz.t by inserting the following Words to Wit "thereof
together with the Proceedings they shall join in with the Com-
missioners of the other Colonies" between the Word "Disburse-
