The Governor communicated to M:r Speaker the following Mes-
sage Viz:t
Gentlemen of the Lower House of Assembly
As I perceive by your Address which hath been Just presented to
me, that you are Desirous to have a Short Recess of a few Weeks,
I shall comply with your request but it being Probable that the

Stamp'd Paper Destined for this Province in Consequence of the
Act of Parliament that was made last Session by the Legislature of
Great Britain will Arrive here before I shall have an Opportunity
of Advising with you again And that the Master of the Vessel who
may have Charge thereof will desire me to give Orders for its being
Landed and lodged in a place of Security especially as the Person
appointed to Distribute the Stamps here has I Understand left the
Province I should be glad to know you wou'd Advise me to Act on
Such Occasion Hor:o Sharpe
[Sept 28 1765]

Which was read and Ordered to lye on the Table.
On Reading the Second time his Excellency's last Message Ordered
that M.r J: Hollyday M.r Hammond Col :o Tilghman M.r Johnson
M:r Murdock M.r Wolstenholme M:r Ringgold M.r Chase M:r H:
Hollyday M.r Allien M:r Wilson and M.r J: Goldsborough be a Com-
mittee to draw up and prepare an Address to his Excellency in
Answer to his last Message and to bring in the same
Col:o Lloyd from the Upper House delivers to M:r Speaker the
paper Bill Entituled an Act to continue all such Acts of Assembly
of this Province as would Expire with this Session of Assembly
Indorsed By the Upper House of Assembly 28:th Sept:r 1765 The
Engrossed Bill of which this is the Original was read and Assented to
Signed p Order U: Scott Clk Upper House

James Hollyday Esq:r delivers to M.r Speaker an Address to the
Governor which was read Approved and Ordered to be Ingrossed
Ordered that the Clerk of this House do make out a copy of the
Resolves and deliver them to M:r Jonas Green printer in Order that
the same may be published by him in the next Maryland Gazette
James Hollyday Esq:r delivers to M.r Speaker the following In-
grossed Address Viz:t

To His Excellency Horatio Sharpe Esq:r Governor and Commander
in Chief in and over the Province of Maryland
The Humble Address of the House of Delegates
May it Please your Excellency
In Answer to your Message Just now received relative to the
Stamp'd Paper we should think ourselves extremely happy were we
in Circumstances to Advise your Excellency on so new a Subject, But
