The President presented the memorial of Alfred Spates,
contesting the seat of C. H. Ohr, with accompanying docu-
ments;

Which was ordered to be referred to the Committee on Elec-
tions hereafter to be appointed.

On motion of Mr. Bowie, it was

Ordered, That the papers in the contested election case of
Alfred Spates vs. Charles H. Ohr, be referred to the Commit-
tee on Elections, to be appointed, and that all testimony in
the case shall be filed on or before the 1 Oth day of January.

On motion of Mr. Earle, it was

Ordered, That Augustus Gassaway be appointed Secretary;
Alexander S. Godwin, Reading Clerk; Joshua M. Bosley,
Sergeant-at-Arms; Thomas S. Townsend, Isaac Amos, Benja-
min Fawcett, William H. Guy, Committee Clerks; George
Gale, Post Master; Clement Bary, Page; Richard Martin,
Folder; Joseph E. Lynch, Messenger; Bernard Miller, Door-
Keeper ;

The several Officers present were then qualified by taking the
oath prescribed by the Constitution, and entered upon the dis-
charge of their duties.

On motion of Mr. Compton, it was

Ordered, by the Senate, that the Librarian be required to fur-
nish to each member of the Senate a copy of the Constitution
and Code of Laws of the State, with the Journals of the last
regular and called sessions of the Senate.

On motion of Mr. Stephenson, it was

Ordered, That the Officers of the late (Senate, who have at-
tended the present session of the Senate, and assisted in its
organization, and have not been re-appointed to office, be paid
for eight days attendance, at the usual rate.
