INSPECTIONS.

inspected and marked by the inspector appointed by virtue of the
act, to which this act is a supplement, or some one of his depu-

ties legally appointed, under the penalty of twenty dollars for
each and every violation of this act, to be recovered by action
of debt in the name of the state of Maryland, before any justice
of the peace of the state of Maryland, in and for the city of
Baltimore ; the one-half to the use of the informer, the other

ings before said justice, shall be such as are now authorized by
law in cases of small debts tinder his jurisdiction.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted. That it shall be the duty of the
inspector appointed by virtue of the act, to which this act is a
supplement, to inspect all ground plaister paris, which may here-
after be exposed or offered for sale, or sold, within the limits of
the city of Baltimore, whether the same be contained in barrels,
kegs or casks, and to put proper marks on the same, denoting
the place of inspection, and the quality and weight of plaister
paris contained in each barrel, keg or cask, making the proper
allowance for the weight of the barrel, keg or cask, in which
said plaister paris may be contained, according to the best of his
judgment.

Inspectors'
duty.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted. That for the inspection of every
barrel of plaister paris, containing three hundred and twenty
pounds net, the said inspector shall, from and after the passage
of this act, be allowed the sum of six cents, to be paid by the
person or persons in possession of the same at the time of in-
spection, and for the inspection of every bairel, keg or cask,
containing either more or less than three hundred and twenty
pounds net, the said inspector shall be allowed at the rate of six
cents for every three hundred and twenty pounds net weight, to
be paid by the person or persons in possession of the plaister
paris inspected, at the time of inspecting th^same; and that the
compensation allowed by this act to the inspector aforesaid,
shall be recoverable by action of debt in the name of the said
inspector, in the same way and before the same tribunal which
has jurisdiction over other cases of debt of equal amount.

Inspectors'

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the third, fourth, fifth and
sixth sections of the act, to which this act is a supplement, be,
and the same are hereby repealed.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That from any judgment rendered
by any justice of the peace, in pursuance of this act, or of the
act to which this is a supplement, either party to such judgment
may appeal to Baltimore county court, in the same manner, and
under the same regulations as is allowed from judgments ren-
dered by justices of the peace, in cases of small debts.
