COMMITTEE ON TUBERCULOSIS CONTROL FOR
THE STATE OF MARYLAND

The Governor appointed this special committee in 1965 at the
request of the State Department of Health. The Committee is to direct
its attention to the further control of tuberculosis and its possible
eradication. The Committee is to turn its attention to the development
of new methods for bringing hard-to-reach segments of the population
to examination and to study means of reducing the rate of infection
from this disease especially in younger children. The Committee will
meet and report from time to time.

The Governor appointed this special Committee in 1963 to coordi-
nate studies of the fish mortality which has occurred in the Potomac
River and other Maryland tidal waters. The Committee is to work
with a similar Committee appointed by the Governor of Virginia and
to report from time to time.
COMMITTEE TO REVIEW THE DESIRABILITY OF STATE
ASSISTANCE FOR THE WALTERS ART GALLERY

The Governor appointed this special committee in 1965 to study
the request of the Walters Art Gallery for State assistance because
of the need for more adequate housing of the Gallery's collections and
its desire for partial State support for its proposed expansion. The
Committee is to report to the 1966 General Assembly. The Governor
also instructed the Department of Economic Development to work in
close consultation with the Committee and to study the matter.
