MARYLAND MANUAL 269 The Governor appointed this seventeen-member Commission in 1969 to study the effect of nuclear power plants on water and air. The Commission is to conduct an in-depth probe of the environmental effects of nuclear power plants with particular emphasis on radio- logical contamination and thermal pollution. The Commission includes representatives of the General Assembly, the larger public library systems, a County Commissioner, the Director of the Division of Library Extension of the State Department of Education, and interested citizens.
