And now, gentlemen, there is only one duty left for me to
perform: Many of you have met each other in .this hall,
hallo-wed by so many associations, for the first time; but I
am confident a bond of sympathy has sprung up between you
which will continue through life. No heartburnings or strifes
have marked the career of this Body. Words seemingly
unkind may have been uttered without due reflection, in the
heat of debate, but were soon regretted and forgotten.
As we now part, many of us, perhaps, never to meet, let us
carry to our homes the warm friendship for each other which
has marked this Session, while I shall, until the latest mo-
ment of my life, regard it as the proudest act to have been
Speaker of a Body in which has been contained so much
worth, intelligence and moral purity.
At the close whereof, the hour of 12 o'clock, midnight,
having arrived, the Speaker, under the provisions of the Con-
stitution, Article 3, Section 15, declared the House of Dele-
gates of Maryland adjourned sine die.
