CHAP. 5.

                                LAWS OF MARYLAND.

such inquisition and valuation shall be final and conclusive; Provided
always, that the said road should not be carried or conducted
through any yard, garden or orchard, against the will or consent
of the owner, nor shall any field in which grain is growing be laid
open until the crop is ripe and may be taken away; And provided
also,
in case the assessment or valuation of damages made by the
commissioners shall be affirmed, the expense attending the said inquisition
shall be paid by the person or persons at whose request or
for whose benefit it was taken.

Commissioners
compensation.
    4.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said commissioners as aforesaid
shall be allowed two dollars for every day they shall be employed
in discharge of their duty under this act, to be paid in the
same manner as the amount of the valuation herein before directed
to be made.

                                            CHAP. VII.
An Act to settle and ascertain the Salary of the Members of the Council
                for the ensuing year.

Salary ascertained.     BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That 
each member of the council shall be entitled to receive for the ensuing
year the sum of five hundred and thirty-three dollars and
thirty-three and one-third cents, current money, for his salary.

    remove a certain Negro Boy from the State of Virginia into this

                                            CHAP. IX.
A Further Supplement to the act passed at November session seventeen
    hundred and ninety-five, chapter twenty-seven, entitled, An
    act to establish a Bank and incorporate the subscribers thereto.

Board for making
discounts.
    1.  BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That 
any number of directors not less than five, shall constitute a board
of the said bank for the purpose of making discounts only.
Ratio of votes.     2.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That each stockholder having two
shares in the said bank, shall be entitled to one vote for each share;
and any stockholder having more than two shares shall be entitled
to such number of votes as is authorised by the act to which this is
a supplement.
Any kind of security
may be taken

for debts due the
bank.
    3.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That in case of debts due to the said
bank the president, directors and company, shall be justified in
taking any kind of security for the same; and that all debts which
may hereafter become due to the said bank, by a stockholder offering
to transfer his stock, must be discharged before such transfer
shall be made.

    By 1815, ch. 167, the act of incorporation continued and extended to the 1st
of January 1835, &c.
