An Act to continue in force the Acts of Assembly which would expire
            with the present Session.

    1.  BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That 
all such acts, and parts of acts of assembly, (except the act*, entitled,
An act to authorise the several banks in this state to issue
small notes for a limited time, and for other purposes,) as would
expire with the present session, be and the same are hereby continued
until the twentieth day of November next, and until the end
of the next session of assembly which shall happen thereafter.

                                  CHAP. CCLXVIII.
An Act authorising a Lottery or Lotteries for the purpose of purchasing
    a Public Library, and establishing and endowing a Free School
    in Prince-George's County.

†  Ch. 142.
    1.  BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That 
it shall and may be lawful for William Beanes, John Read Magruder,
Trueman Tyler, John Hodges, (of Thomas,) Henry
Ashton, Thomas R. Hodges and William B. Beanes, or a majority
of them, to propose a scheme or schemes of a lottery or lotteries,
to raise a sum of money not exceeding twenty thousand
dollars clear of all expenses incurred in drawing the said lottery
or lotteries, and to sell and dispose of the tickets thereof, and
to draw the same; provided, that the said William Beanes, John
Read Magruder, Trueman Tyler, John Hodges (of Thomas,) Henry
Ashton, Thomas R. Hodges, and William B. Beanes, or a majority
of them who undertake to act under this law, before the sale or
disposal of any ticket or tickets in said lottery or lotteries, give
their bond to the state of Maryland, in the penalty of forty thousand 
dollars, conditioned that they will well and truly apply so
much money arising therefrom, within sixty days after the drawing
of the said lottery or lotteries be completed, as will satisfy the fortunate
adventurers for prizes drawn by them; and shall, within
three months after the drawing of the said lottery or lotteries be
completed, pay over to the Pholomanthanean Society of Upper-Marlborough†,
the money thus raised, to be by them applied, within
one year after the drawing of the said lottery or lotteries shall be
completed, to the purchase of a public library, and the establishment
and endowment of a free school in Prince-George's county.
Bond to be recorded.     2.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That it shall be the duty of the said managers,
before they act as such, to lodge the bond entered into as
aforesaid in the office of the clerk of Prince-George's county, there
to be recorded, and upon such bond, or any office copy thereof,
suit or suits may be instituted against the obligors therein, or any
of them, or their legal representatives, for any breach or non-compliance
with the same.
Tickets may be
sold in any part of
the state.
    3.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said managers be and they,
or any person or persons appointed by them, are hereby authorised
to dispose of and sell all or any of the tickets of the said lottery
or lotteries in the city of Baltimore, or any part of this state, exclusive
of any control over the same by the corporation of the
