                                            CHAP. XXXIII.
An ACT to draught the non-commissioned officers and privates of the regiment
    extraordinary into the battalions of the quota of this state, and to recal the
    commissioned officers of the said regiment.

1780.
                                            CHAP. XXXIV.
                            An ACT for the defence of the bay.

    By four large barges, fitted with sails and oars, armed with swivels, and carrying each at least 25
men; one galley, armed with two 18 and two 9 pounders, and swivels; and on sloop or schooner, capable
of carrying ten four pounders.  And, to protect the counties of Somerset and Worcester, there is
to be raised a troop of horse, to consist of a captain-lieutenant, a cornet, and 24 dragoons, and a foot
company, to consist of a captain-lieutenant, an ensign, and thirty non-commissioned officers and privates,
to serve within the state for one year.  Further, to cut off the resources of a piratical enemy, the
executive are authorised and requested, before the 1st of May next, to have all the inhabitants of the
islands below Hooper's straits, and between the sound and the bay, with their property, removed to some
part of the main, and to seize and sell all the vessels, boats or canoes, belonging to them, and to direct all
vessels passing thither without their leave to be seized.  All persons are prohibited from living there during
the war, under the penalty of forfeiting all their property found there, and of being thereby deemed enlisted
soldiers for the war, provided they be of an age between 16 and 50.  But to make some compensation,
the said islands are to pay no assessment, and such of the inhabitants thus to be removed off, as may
want assistance, are to be supported by a levy in the counties of Somerset and Worcester, which levy is
to be reimbursed by the state.
    This act contains likewise the following humane and equitable provision.

    XXI.  And be it enacted, That if any officer, soldier or marine, shall lose a
limb, or be otherwise maimed or hurt, so as to be rendered incapable of procuring
a livelihood, such officer, soldier or marine, shall be entitled to receive the
same provision and support as is or shall hereafter be established by this state for
its officers and soldiers in the service of the United States.

                                            CHAP. XXXV.
An ACT to continue the act prohibiting the export of grain, wheat flour, and 
    flesh provisions, by land, and to permit the exportation of wheat flour and Indian
    corn by sea, under certain restrictions.

    To continue until the 1st of August next, &c.  Expired.

                                            CHAP. XXXVI.
                An ACT to continue the act therein mentioned.
    BE it enacted, That the act of assembly, entitled, An act to prevent the exportation
of flour, staves and shingles, not merchantable, from the town
of Baltimore in Baltimore county, and to regulate the weight of hay and
measure of grain, salt, flax-seed and fire-wood, within the said town, and to prevent
the exportation of flour not merchantable from Fell's-point in the said county,
made at a session of assembly, begun and held at the city of Annapolis, on
the second day of October, seventeen hundred and seventy-one, shall be and is
hereby revived and continued, and shall be and remain in full force for seven years,
and to the end of the next session of assembly which shall happen thereafter.

    II.  Provided, That instead of the inspector taking the oaths or affirmations to
the late government, as prescribed by the said act, such inspector of flour, or
other officer to be appointed in virtue of this act, shall take, repeat and subscribe,
his belief in the christian religion, the oath of allegiance, and the oath of fidelity
and support to this state, as prescribed by the constitution and form of government,
and the laws of this state.
Proviso.
    III.  And be it enacted, That all fees, allowances and fines, under the said act,
may be paid and discharged in Spanish dollars, at the rate of seven shillings and
six-pence each, or in other silver, gold, or new bills of credit, to the value
thereof.
