themselves of it:  Such is the recital of the preamble.  The act authorised an election of a vestry on the
first Monday in January next, to be made agreeably to the act for the appointment of select vestries, and
its supplement; and the vestry chosen shall have all the powers conferred by that supplement.

    An ACT for the relief of John Galloway, of Baltimore county.  PR.

      An ACT for the benefit of William Russell, of Great-Britain.  PR.
                                            CHAP. V.
A Bill, entitled, An ACT to authorise and empower David Brown and Henry
    Wilson, of Baltimore county, executors of the last will and testament of John
    Cornthwaite, late of the same county, deceased, to sell and dispose of the 
    real estate therein mentioned.  PR.
                                            CHAP. VI.
An ACT to record and make valid a deed of bargain and sale, executed by
    James Raley, and Benjamin Newnam and Mary his wife, to John Moore, of
    Queen-Anne's county.  PR.
                                            CHAP. VII.
An ACT to empower the justices of Baltimore county court to levy a sum of
        money on the taxable inhabitants, for the purposes therein mentioned.

    Viz.  for the purpose of discharging the debts contracted by the commissioners for building a court-house
and prison, who had not been able to complete the work with the money already granted.  The
sum hereby to be levied is £. 450, which is to be paid by the sheriff to the said commissioners.

    An ACT for the relief of Thomas Bailey, of Baltimore county.  PR.
                                            CHAP. IX.
A Supplement to an act, entitled, An act for the benefit of Mrs. Rebecca Hanson
                            and Miss Catharine Dulany.  PR.
                                            CHAP. X.
An ACT to enable the governor to issue commissions of oyer and terminer and
                              gaol delivery in certain cases.

    The preamble represents, that the gaols in general are insufficient to secure prisoners, and the enacting
clause gives the governor a power in all cases, wherein he shall think the exercise of it necessary, to issue
a commission to any county, for the trial of any offences that may have arisen in it.
    To continue until the end of the next session.  Expired.

                                            CHAP. XI.
An ACT to lay out and establish a public road leading from William Matthews's
    mill in Baltimore county, until it intersects the main road where the old road
    formerly did.

    This act appoints four commissioners to lay off, in the manner delineated in a plot annexed to the petition
of William Matthews, a public road, 20 feet wide, leading from his mill in Baltimore county,
until it intersect the main road where the old road formerly did, and to ascertain the damages done to
the proprietors of the land through which it shall pass; and, after executing their trust, to make their
return to the next county court, to be filed by the clerk, and entered amongst the records.  And the

said William Matthews is to pay the person or persons injured by this road, the sum to be thus ascertained
by the commissioners.

                                            CHAP. XII.
An ACT to lay out and establish a public road in Baltimore county.

    Leading from the highway between Samuel Worthington's and Benjamin Nicholson's, by the mill of
Thomas Matthews, until it intersect the main road leading to Baltimore-town, at or near Thomas Hooker's.
This act, for the purpose, appoints four commissioners, and is, as nearly as may be, a  copy from
the last act.  The damages are to be paid by Thomas Matthews.

                                            CHAP. XIII.
An ACT to empower the vestry of Somerset parish, in Somerset county, to sell
    and dispose of a part of the negroes belonging to said parish, for the purposes
    therein mentioned.

    Any part of the said negroes, at the discretion of the vestry, may  be sold by them, at auction, after
three weeks public notice; and the money arising from the sale, they, or their successors, shall employ
in erecting a dwelling-house and other houses proper for accommodating the minister of the parish; whatever
surplus may remain, after finishing this work, shall remain in their hands, as a fund for defraying
parochial charges.
