XXVII.

                                LAWS of MARYLAND.

course of law, make good title thereto, such person shall be entitled to recover
from the said Thomas Beall, his heirs, devisee, executors, or administrators, any
purchase money or rents by him received from any of the purchasers or lessees of
any of the said lots, and, upon any such recovery, the tenants holding under the
said Thomas Beall shall thereafter hold under and pay the rent reserved to the
person making title to and recovering the same land.

    VIII.  And be it enacted, That if any of the buildings already built on the
land so as aforesaid to be laid out by the said commissioners, and erected into a
town, should happen to interfere with, or stand on any of the streets laid off in
virtue of this act, the same shall be permitted to continue, but shall not at any
time hereafter be repaired or rebuilt.

                                            CHAP. XXIX.
An ACT to enable the justices of Anne-Arundel county court to
    assess a sum of money on the said county for the support of the
    four children of Caleb Hazle, late of Anne-Arundel county,
    deceased.
Preamble.     WHEREAS it is represented to this general assembly, by the petition of
Sarah Adams, of Anne-Arundel county, that her brother, Caleb
Hazle, some time in June last, departed this life, leaving four children,
a son and three daughters, the eldest of whom is not more than eight years
of age, and that the wife of the said Caleb Hazle, and mother of said children,
died about two years before her said husband; that the said Caleb Hazle died insolvent,
and left his said children destitute of the necessaries of life, and without
friends or relations, except the petitioner, who is a poor woman, and can, with
difficulty, support herself, and praying that some provision might be made for
the support and maintenance of the said children; and the said facts appearing
to this general assembly to be true;

    II.  Be it therefore enacted, by the general assembly of Maryland, That the
justices of Anne-Arundel county court shall have full power and authority annually
to assess on the assessable property in their said county, a sum of money sufficient
for the support and maintenance of the four children of Caleb Hazle, late
of Anne-Arundel county, deceased, until the said children arrive at an age sufficient
to be bound out.

                                            CHAP. XXX.
An ACT for opening and extending a road from Elizabeth-town,
    in Washington county, to Patowmack river, at the mouth of
    Conococheague creek.
Preamble.     WHEREAS the inhabitants of Washington county, by their petition to
this general assembly, did set forth, that a numerous concourse of
people travelling to and from Philadelphia, and other parts of Pennsylvania,
to Winchester, and other parts of Virginia, as well as great numbers
of the inhabitants of said county, are reduced to great trouble and inconvenience,
from the badness and crookedness of said road from Elizabeth-town to Patowmack,
at the mouth of Conococheague creek, and that said road may be much
sreightened and amended without any injury to individuals, but great numbers
benefited by having a road on a streight line between the two places;

    II.  Be it enacted, by the general assembly of Maryland, That the justices of
Washington county court shall be, and are hereby empowered to appoint Henry
Shryock, Richard Pindle and Paul Hoy, commissioners to lay out a road from
Elizabeth-town, in Washington county, to the Patowmack river, at the mouth
of Conococheague creek, on as streight a line as the nature of the ground will
