& Vice President of the United States of America, in & for the
State of Maryland (as will fully appear by reference to the annexed
Document, being the Certificate furnished by the Executive
Authority of the State of Maryland,) do hereby certify that on the
First Wednesday in December, in the year Eighteen Hundred &
Forty eight, we met at the City of Annapolis in the said State, being
the place, where by the Laws of the State of Maryland, the Electors
of President & Vice President of the United States, on the part of
said State, are directed to meet therefrom the trust reposed in
them; & that then & there, having duly qualified & organized,
Zachary Taylor, of the State of Louisiana, was put in nomination
for President of the United States of America for the four years
from & after the Third day of March next ensuing; that we
then & there, in pursuance of the Constitution & Laws of the
United States, proceeded to vote by ballots, for President of the
United States of America; & in counting the ballots, it was
ascertained that Zachary Taylor of the State of Louisiana
received Eight votes for President of the United States of
America:  that then & there, Millard Fillmore, of the State of
New York, was put in nomination for Vice President of the
United States of America for the four years from & after the Third
Day of March next ensuing; that we then & there in pursuance
of the Constitution & Laws of the United States proceeded to vote by
ballots, for Vice PResident of the United States of America, &
on counting the ballots it was ascertained that Millard
Fillmore, of the State of New York, received Eight votes for
Vice President of the United States of America.
        The annexed Lists of the said Persons, with the votes given
to the same, are hereby returned by as the Electors of President
& Vice President of the United States, in & for the State of Maryland,
in pursuance of the Constitution & Laws of the United States, as having
the aforesaid number of votes.
        Done, at the City of Annapolis, on the First Wednesday of December
being the sixth day of the said Month, in the year one Thousand, Eight
Hundred & Forty Eight.
        In witness whereof we here to subscribe our Hands & affix our
Seals.
