RESOLUTIONS. 1835.

nel of the Chesapeake Eay and Susquehanna River, ————— from the head of Spesutie island, in Chesapeake Bay, to Palmer's Island, opposite the town of Havre de Grace, a distance of about four miles, for the purpose of ascertaining the depth of water, the improvements which may be made therein, to promote the commerce of the river, and probable expenditure which might be necessary for the improvement of the navigation within the above designated limits.

Resolved, That our Senators and Representatives in Congress be, and they are hereby requested to obtain from Congress, an appropriation adequate to the purpose of removing two bars of sand and mud, in the channel of navigation, at the head of the Chesapeake Bay, by which vessels drawing more than eight feet water, are frequently prevented from entering the port of Havre de Grace, at the mouth of the Susquehanna River.

Resolved, That the Governor of this State be requested to transmit copies of the aforegoing resolutions to each of our Senators and Representatives in Congress.

Resolved, That the Governor of this State be, and he is hereby requested to inform the Governor of New York, and the Governor of Pennsylvania, of the deep interest which the State of Maryland has in accomplishing the object designated by the first resolution, and as the General Assembly of Maryland believe that the States of New York and Pennsylvania feel an equal interest in the subject, that such officers be respectfully requested to present to the legislatures of those States, the desire of the General Assembly of Maryland, that they would co-operate with this State, in endeavoring to obtain an appropriation by Congress, for the object above specified.
