REPORT OF THE COMPTROLLER OF THE TREASURY. VII

Insurance Companies for the fiscal year 1890, amounting to an
aggregate of $65,324.27, an increase over the year 1889 of
$10,287.64.

"Table No. 14," shows in detail the amounts of State Taxes
for 1890, remaining uncollected in the hands of Collectors in the
several counties and city of Baltimore, at the close of the fiscal
year 1890, amounting to $342,486.88.

"Table No. 15," shows balance due from Collectors for years
previous to 1890, amounting to $197,573.88.

"Table No. 16," shows balances due from Sheriffs for various
years previous to and including 1890, amounting to $24,244.36.

"Table No. 17," shows balances due from Clerks of Courts,
Eegisters of Wills and other Officers, exclusive of interest,
amounting to $9,091.24.

"Table No. 18," shows the amount due from various Corpor-
ations for State Taxes for various years, amounting in the
aggregate to $102,309.31 at the close of the fiscal year, some of
which, however, have been paid into the Treasury since the
close of the fiscal year, as noted in said table,

"Table No. 19," shows special appropriations made by the
Legislature and paid during the fiscal year.

"Table No. 20," shows in detail the disbursements made
during the fiscal year 1890 from the Contingent Fund of the
Comptroller, and the disbursements of the Contingent Fund of
the Treasury Department is shown in "Table No 21."

The statement of the rents of the State Tobacco Warehouse
Wharves, required by Joint Resolution No. 13 of 1886, is
appended, showing the indebtedness of the Warehouses to the
State to be $174,383.68.

1 have thus given a brief epitome of the annexed Statements
and Tables, which I commend to your notice, feeling that you
will find that the condition of the State's finances will compare
favorably with that of any State in the Union.
