1706 ARTICLE 6.

all claims for mileage shall set forth in full, under oath, the date, place
and party or parties upon whom suet warrant or warrants were served
and the actual number of miles traveled in serving such state warrant
or warrants.

Any sheriff who shall make a false claim for mileage, or shall claim
mileage for service not actually performed in serving any state warrant
for which mileage shall be claimed, shall be deemed guilty of a misde-
meanor, and, upon conviction, shall be subject to removal from office by
the Governor.

554. He shall be allowed fifty cents each time for ironing or uniron-
ing a prisoner, as often as it may be necessary to do so.

STALLIONS.

556. The owner of any stallion may enter into a contract with the
owner of any mare, pledging the progeny of such mare by such stallion
for the amount of the service money of such stallion; such contract shall
be in writing, signed by the respective parties thereto, and attested by
at least one witness, and shall be recorded in the office of the clerk of the
county wherein such mare is situated, among the records of bills of sale,
within twenty days after its date; and from and after the date of the
record thereof, and for the space of one year from the date of the foaling
of such progeny, the owner of said stallion shall have a lien upon said
progeny for the amount of the service money aforesaid; and if the said
owner of said mare, without the consent of the owner of said stallion
first had and obtained in writing, shall remove such mare or foal out of
the county where said contract is recorded, or shall secrete, destroy or
sell the same, he shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon in-
dictment therefor and conviction thereof, shall be fined or imprisoned,
or both, in the same manner and to the same extent as provided for
offenders against the provisions of section 210 of Article 27 of the Code
of Public General Laws, title "Crimes and Punishments." This section
shall apply only to the counties of Caroline, St. Mary's, Wicomico, Wor-
cester and Anne Arundel.
