2194 APPENDIX—BALTIMORE COUNTY AND CITY.

timore, or to or from any other place of confinement, under the
sentence, or final order of any authorized judicial authority, the
sum of ten dollars for one person so carried and conveyed, and for
each additional person so carried or conveyed at the same time,
five dollars, and no more, unless the county commissioners shall be
satisfied that extraordinary care and caution had to be exercised,
accompanied with unusual danger, trouble or expense; and said
compensation, so specified, shall be held to include all expenses
incident to the carrying and conveying of such person; 'provided,
that as far as is possible, the said sheriff shall convey, and shall
be held and required to convey, to each of such institutions, all
persons sentenced to be so conveyed at the same term of court.
No other fees, perquisites or allowances whatsoever shall be
granted, allowed or levied for said sheriff, except such as are
specified in the code of public general laws relating to sheriffs.

ARTICLE III.—BALTIMOEE COUNTY.
After section 70, insert as follows:

CRUELTY TO ANIMALS.

1880, ch. 129.

70A. The provisions of sections 242 to 245 of article 4 of the
public local laws, title " City of Baltimore," relating to " Cruelty
to Animals," shall apply to Baltimore county as fully as if
repeated in this article.

ARTICLE IV.—CITY OF BALTIMOEE.

After section 315, insert under sub-title " FIKE," the three fol-
lowing additional sections:

1888, ch 393.

315 A. The board of fire commissioners of the city of Baltimore
may retire from office in the fire department any permanent or
call member thereof who has become permanently disabled while
in the actual performance of duty, or who has performed faithful
service in the department for a period of not less than twenty
consecutive years, and place the member so retired upon a
pension roll.
