ARTICLE C

WORK-HOURS OF, IN FACTORIES.

Employment of Children in
Factories.

4. Children may be employed in
factories from June 1st to
October 16th.
5. "Employment permit" of children
to be kept on file.
6. Maryland bureau of statistics to
issue "employment permits. "
7. ''Employment permit" shall only
be issued upon satisfactory
evidence.

8. Form of employment permit;
duplicate to be filed.
9. Penalty for violating sections 4
to 8.
10. Duties of inspectors.
11. Six inspectors to be appointed;
salaries and expenses.
12. Sections 4 to 8 shall not include
farm labor.
13. Appropriation to carry out pro-
visions of sections 4 to 12.

Employment of Children in Factories.

1902, ch. 566. 1906, ch. 192.

4. No proprietor, owner, superintendent, manager or fore-
man, or other subordinate or agent of any mill, factory, work-
shop, office, restaurant, hotel, apartment house, store, telephone
or telegraph office, or other establishment or business shall,
after the first day of September, in the year 1906, employ for
wages or hire, or retain in employment in any such mill, fac-
tory, workshop, office, restaurant, hotel, apartment house, store,
telephone or telegraph office, or other establishment or busi-
ness, any person or persons under twelve (12) years of age,
except in the counties, from June 1st to October 15th, in every
year.

6. No child between the age of twelve (12) and sixteen
(16) shall be employed, permitted or suffered to work in any
office, establishment or business mentioned in the preceding
section unless the person or corporation employing him or her
produces and keeps on file and accessible to the inspectors
authorized by this sub-title and the attendance officer of the
public schools, an employment permit, and keep a complete
list of all such children employed therein on file; and in the
