in payment of the expenses of the construction and equip-


ment of said road or other liabilities of said company.


SEC. 11. And be it enacted, That the stockholders of said


company in general meeting assembled, or a majority of

them, shall have power to make and adopt such by-laws,


rules and regulations for the direction and management of


said company as may in their judgment from time to time

be necessary for the purpose of their incorporation, and not

inconsistent with the provisions of this charter and the law

and constitution of the State, and the president and direc-

tors of said company, or a majority of them, shall constitute,

appoint and employ such officers, agents, and servants for

the constitution, repair and preservation of said railroad

and the running of cars and the transportation of passengers

and freight thereon, and for the transaction of all the busi-

ness of said company as in their judgment may be necessary.

SEC. 12. And be it enacted, That said company may make

or cause to be made lateral railways ; provided, however,


that such lateral branches shall not extend into Baltimore

City further than the said terminus between O'Donnell and


Monument streets, in any direction whatsoever from said


railway, not exceeding seven miles in length, and may


make connections along and upon any other public county

road or causeway that may hereafter be constructed between

Baltimore City and Keller's Pavilion provided, that such

lateral railways when constructed upon public streets,

avenues or county roads, shall be constructed in the manner

prescribed for said main railroad by this act, and when con-

structed over any such public bridge or causeway, shall be

constructed in the manner prescribed for said railroad over

bridges as aforesaid.


SEC. 13. And be it enacted, That all acts or parts of actf


inconsistent with the provisions of this act, be and the same

SEC. 14. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect


from the date of its passage.

Effective.
