2238 JOINT RESOLUTIONS.

objective to prepare a report on the subject and to submit
the same to the members of the General Assembly of Mary-
land at the appropriate time in order that proper consider-
ation might be given to the subject by such body,

NO. 19.

(Senate Joint Resolution 7)

A Joint Resolution providing for the appointment of a
Commission to investigate and study the existing Child
Labor Laws of Maryland, to determine the necessity of
revising the existing Child Labor Laws and to report
thereon to the Governor.

WHEREAS, the Child Labor Laws have been amended,
from time to time, but there has been no general revision
of these laws for many years; and

WHEREAS, it is desirable to have the whole subject re-
studied and the laws revised; therefore

Be it resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the Governor be and he is hereby authorized and
directed to name a Commission of eleven (11) members,
to serve without compensation and to be chosen as follows:
two (2) from the Department of Labor and Industry; one

(1) from the State Industrial Accident Commission; two

(2) representatives of labor; two (2) representatives of
industry; one (1) from the Division of Vocational Re-
habilitation of the State Department of Education; one
(1) from the State Department of Welfare and two (2)
representatives of civic groups, to determine whether or
not there is a need to revise the existing Child Labor Laws
of Maryland and, in its determination of these questions,
to hear testimony, collect and study data from whatever
source available, to make its findings and report its recom-
mendations to the Governor and Legislative Council on or
before September 1, 1948, to be submitted to the General
Assembly at the next following session of the General As-
sembly; and be it further

Resolved, That the Attorney General of Maryland shall
be the legal adviser to said Commission; and be it further

Resolved, That that The Governor make available to
said Commission such funds as may be deemed necessary
to pay the cost and expenses of making said investigation,
study and report; and be it further
