1004 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Apl. 21,.

FRIDAY, April 21st, 1876.
Senate met at 10 A. M.
Present at the roll call the following Senators:

Mr. President, Aydelotte, Bannon, Brewer, Cooper, Den-
nis, Freeman, Getty, Gorman, Hepbron, Humphreys, Joyce,
Knight, Lee, Lawrence, Lloyd, McCulloh, Newcomer,
Phepls, Stevens, Steiner, Suit, Walsh—22.

Proceedings of yesterday read and approved.

Tke President announced the unfinished business to be the
following order heretofore submitted by Mr. Lloyd:

Ordered, That two (2) thousand copies of the report of the
Committee and testimony in the case of Chesapeake and
Ohio Canal Company be printed for the use of the Senate,
and that the Secretary of the Senate contract for said print-
ing.

Pending the consideration of »aid order,

Mr. Stevens submitted the following amendment:

AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

Strike out all after the word "Company," and insert "and
two thousand copies of the assessment bill, and one thousand
copies of the revision of registration bill, be printed by the
State Printer for the use of the Senate, and that the Treas-
urer pay, upon the warrant of the Comptroller, to the State
printer, the sum of $2,500, or so much thereof as may be
necessary for the entire work, and that an equal number of
copies be sent by the State Printer, at his expense, to each
member of the Senate.

Which was read.

Pending the consideration of said amendment,
On motion by Mr. Stevens,

Said order and amendment was laid over.

Mr. Cooper moved that the Senate take a recess until 12
o'clock,

Which was determined in the negative.

At 10.15 A. M.,

On motion by Mr. Stevens,

The Senate went into Executive Session.

At 10.30 A. M., the doors were again opened.
