favor of the said Thomas S. Alexander for the said
sum of money in full compensation for said ser-
vices.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the day of the passage thereof.

 

CHAPTER 280.

Passed Mar.
7, 1864.

AN ACT to add a new section to Article four of
the Code of Public Local Laws authorizing the
Judge of the Superior Court to employ a Steno-
grapher.

Section added.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the following section be added
to the fourth Article of Public Local Laws: The
Judge of the Superior Court of Baltimore city be
and he is hereby empowered to employ a Steno-
grapher to take down the testimony in trials be-
fore said court, and who shall be removable at the
pleasure of the court, and that the Judge of said
court may allow the said Stenographer such com-
pensation, not exceeding fifteen hundred dollars
per annum, as he may think just and proper, to
be paid by the Register, under Article fourth, sec-
tion one hundred and thirty-four of the said Pub-
lic Local Laws.

In force.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from its passage.
