1762 LAWS OF MARYLAND.

appointed by the President of the Senate and Speaker of the
House, to confer with a like committee on the part of the Gen-
eral Assembly of Virginia, and to form and report such a law
as will settle the question under consideration.

Be it Resolved, That this Joint Resolution shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

No. 10.

Relating to the protection of the rights of Maryland and its
citizens in the Pocomoke Sound.

WHEREAS, The State of Virginia in derogation of the rights of
the State of Maryland has been and is wrongfully assuming
and exercising jurisdiction over the waters of the State of Mary-
land, in Pocomoke Sound, and through its police authorities
preventing citizens of Maryland from taking oysters and exer-
cising other rights of fishery in the waters of said Pocomoke
Sound, within the boundaries of the State of Maryland, and
has driven citizens of Maryland engaged in catching oysters and
exercising other rights of fishery, from said waters and pre-
cluded them from their just rights in the premises;

Now, therefore, be it resolved jointly by the House of Dele-
gates and the Senate of the General Assembly of Maryland, That
it is the duty of the State of Maryland to protect its territory
and waters and the rights of the citizens therein, and particu-
larly to protect the rights of its citizens to catch and take oys-
ters and to exercise their rights of fishery in Pocomoke Sound,
aforesaid, and that to the end that the territory and waters of
the State, and the said rights of the citizens of Maryland therein
shall be fully protected, it is hereby recommended by the Gen-
eral Assembly that the Governor of the State of Maryland take
such steps upon the part and on behalf of the State of Maryland
as shall effectually protect and secure the rights of the State
and of its citizens in the premises.

No. 11.

Of the General Assembly of Maryland directing the State Li-
brarian to furnish the People's Court of Baltimore City with
certain books and records now in the State Library.

Be it Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the State Librarian be authorized and directed to furnish the
People's Court of Baltimore City with one set of the Maryland
