 Kent County fs.t The Jurors for y.e Right Honourable y.e Lord prop.ry That now is for y.e Body of Kent County afd
upon their oath do present that Bowles Green late of S.t Pauls parish in y.e County afd planter y.e first day
of November Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred and twenty three with force & Arms at y.e parish afd in y.e Coty
afd within y.e Jurisdiction of this Court one Ewe Lamb of y.e price of Sixty pounds of tobacco of y.e Goods &
Chattels of a Certain Henry Hosier then & there being found then & there feloniously Did Steal take & Bear away Contrary to y.e peace of
y.e said Lord prop.ry that now in his good Rules & Government & against y.e form of y.e Act of Assembly in Such Case made & provided &c.a
Testes John Gilbert            M Howard Cler. pac.            On y.e Back of y.e preceeding Ind.t was as foll.s viz.t A true Bill &c.a Thomas Piner foreman

    And y.e afd Bowles Green in his proper person Cometh & Saith that he is in no Sort guilty of y.e premisses above upon him Imposed as by
y.e afd Indictment it is alledged and thereof he putteth himself upon y.e Country.  Bowles Green in p.a psona

    Thereupon Command was given to y.e Sherf of Kent Coty that he Immediately Cause to Come here twelve &c.a by whome &c.a who Neith.r &c.a to
Recognize &c.a because as well &c.a of which s.d precept y.e s.d Sherf to wit Fred.k Hanson Gent now here at this Day to wit the Sixteenth
Day of November Anno Dom. 1725 makes Return that he hath here Ready twelve &c.a as by his precept he was Comanded and now here
afterwards to wit y.e Day & year last mentioned Come again y.e afd Lord prop.ry By Mich.l Howard his Clk of Indictment and y.e
afd Bowles Green in his proper person and y.e Jurors of that Jury being Impannelled and Called like wise Came to wit John
Woodall, Tho.s Massey, John Cooper, Jn.o Blackiston, Fra.s Read W.m Dean, Tho.s Hynson, Jn.o Gilbert, Christopher Bellican
Sutton Bingan, W.m Simson and Abra.m Ambrose who being Duely Elected trued and Sworn to Say y.e tenth in y.e primisses upon their oath
do say that Bowles Green is Guilty of feloniously Stealing y.e Ewe Lamb in y.e Indictm.t afd Specified and by Jn.o Woodall
their foreman allso Say    Therefore it is Considered by y.e Justices here to wit at y.e Court house in y.e Town of Chester in s.d
County this Sixteenth Day of November Anno Dom. Dom. 1725 that y.e afd Bowles Green Stand in y.e pillory for y.e Space of one hour
and that afterwards he Recive at y.e publick ^whipping post^ thirty Lashes well laid on his bare Back till y.e Blood appears as a punishment for
his afd Crime of of feloniously Stealing y.e afd Ewe Lamb According to the force form and Effort of y.e verdict afd ^and also pay this sum of twenty four Shillings cur.t money being for his 4 fold [illegible] of the [illegible] same^ also it is
Considered that y.e afd Bowles Green pay the Sume of thirteen hundred & Sixty four pounds of Tob.o Costs Accrueing on
the premisses afd to y.e officers of this Court

    Ordered by y.e Court here at this Day to wit y.e Day and year last mentioned that y.e Sherf of Kent County take y.e afd Bowles Green
into his Custody and Execute y.e punishment in y.e Judgment afd Specified and afterwards to bring him into Court again of
of which precept y.e s.d Sherf to wit Fred.k Hanson Gent high Sherf of Kent County makes Return y.e Day & year last
Said that he hath Executed y.e s.d Judgment and also hath here y.e said Bowles Green here before y.e Court

    William Stephens Comes in to Court and proves on y.e holy Evangilist of Almighty God that he here attended this Court for
y.e Space of Six Days as an Evidence for the afd Bowles Green at y.e Suit of his s.d Lordship being thereto Lawfully
Sumoned Whereupon y.e afd Bowles is ordered to pay to y.e s.d William y.e Sume of one hundred and Eighty pounds
of Tob.o for his Attendances as afd According to Act of Assembly in Such Case made and provided

    Sarah Stephens Comes into Court and proves on y.e holy Evangilist of Almighty God y.t She has Attended this Court for y.e
space of Six Days as an Evidence for y.e afd Bowles Green at y.e Suit of his s.d Lordship being thereto Lawfully Sumoned
Whereupon y.e afd Bowles Green is ordered to pay to y.e s.d Sarah y.e Sume of one hundred & Eighty pounds of Tobacco for her
Attendances as afd According to Act of Assembly in Such Case made & provided

    Mary Hastins Comes into Court and proves on y.e holy Evangilist of Almighty God y.t She has Attended this Court for y.e
Space of Seven Days as an Evidence for y.e afd Bowles Green at y.e Suit of his s.d Lordship being thereto Lawfully
Sumoned Whereupon y.e afd Bowles is ordered to pay to y.e s.d Mary y.e Sume of two hundred & tenn pounds of Tob.o
for her Attendance as afd According to Act of Assembly in Such Case made & provided

    Ordered by the Court here that y.e Sherf of Kent County keep y.e afd Bowles in Safe Custody untill he Shall
Satisfie y.e fees in y.e Judgment afd Specified and y.e four fold amounting to twenty four Shillings

y.e Sume of twenty pounds Sterling Conditionall that if he Should not make his personal app.ce before y.e Justices
of this Court and if that in y.e mean time he Should not be of Good Behaviour and now here to wit
y.e 16 Day of Nov.r Anno Dom. 1725 y.e s.d Bowles haveing appeared his Recog.c is Discharged

    Robert Green and Daniel Flinn ^at last Court as afd^ Acknowledged themselves Indebted unto y.e Lord prop.ry of this province
of Maryland in y.e Sume of tenn pounds Sterl Each Conditionally that if y.e afd Bowles Green Should
not make his personal appearance before y.e Justices of this Court and if that in y.e mean time he Should
not be of Good Behav.r and now here to wit y.e 16.th Day of Nov.r Anno Dom. 1725 y.e s.d Bowles haveing
appeared y.e afd Rob.t Green & Dan.l Flinn their Recog.cs and Either of them is Discharged
