high displeasure of Almighty God to the evil Example of all others in Such Case offending
contrary to the peace of his Said Lord proprietary that now is his good rule and Government and
against the form of the Act of Assembly in Such case made and provided

    And the afd Mary Stewart in her proper pson cometh and Saith that She is in no
Sort guilty of the premisses above upon her imposed as by y.e afd Indictm.t it is alledged and
thereof She putteth her Selfe upon the Country

    And he who followeth for the L.d prop.ry in like manner Saith She is guilty

    Thereupon Command was given to the Sherf of Kent County that he immediately
cause to come here twelve &c.a By whom &c.a who Neither &c.a To Recognize &c.a
Because as well &c.a of which Said precept the Said Sherf to wit Joseph Young now
here at this day to wit the Eighteenth day of August Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred &
thirty makes return that he hath here Ready twelve &c.a as by his precept he was
Commanded And now here afterwards to wit the day & year last mentioned Came againe the
afd prosecut.r and the afd Mary Stewart in her proper person  And the Jurors of that
Jury being Impannelled and called  Likewise came to wit Samuel Wickes Edwd Worrell
Hance Hanson Edwd Cowarding John Clever Dan.l Hull Jn.o Sutton Charles Smith Sam.l Groome
Sam. Horris Rob.t Meeks Jacob Caulk who being duely elected tryd and Sworn to Say the truth
in the premisses upon their Oath do Say That Mary Stewart is not guilty of y.e fornication
thereof She Stands Indicted and by Sam.l Wickes foreman all So Say  Therefore
it is Considered by the Justices here to wit at the Court House in the Town of Chester
in Kent County on the third tuesday in August being the Eighteenth day of Said Month
Anno Dom Seventeen hundred and thirty  That the afd Mary Stewart as to the afd
Indictment She go thereof without day and  be therefrom acquitted  Also it is Considered
that the afd Mary Stewart pay the Sume of Nine hundred and Seven pounds of
Tobacco Costs accrueing on the premisses afd to the officers of this Court

    Ordered by the Court here that Joseph Young Gent high Sherf of Said County keep
the afd Mary in Safe Custody untill the fees afd Shall be Satisfied &c.a

    The afd Mary Stewart at last June Co.rt ent.rd into Recog.c for her app.rc to this
Court to answ.r y.e afd Indictm.t &c.a   And now at this Court the afd Mary in her prop.r
person appears to the Same  Ordered by the Court here that her Recogniz.c
and her Suretys be Disch.d &c.a  Mary Stewart afd in the sum of ten pounds Sterl
John Macdougall & Tho Marcy in the Sum of five pounds Sterl Each for her
afd  app.rc and Good behav.r in mean time no person Shewing any cause to y.e Contrary
the Court here discharges the Same Recognizances Each of them &c.a
