Messrs. Tolle and Luber escorted the Speaker pro tem to the
rostrum.

Under House Rule No. 49 the Chief Clerk administered the oath
of office to the Speaker pro tem.

MESSAGE FROM EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT.

The Secretary of State appeared and delivered the following
message:

Dear Mr. Speaker:

I am pleased to advise that I have appointed the following as
Members of the House of Delegates and have forwarded their com-
missions to them:

Mrs. Lena L. Moore, Havre de Grace, to fill the vacancy
caused by the death of Leo M. Moore. Commission issued as of
February 25, 1946.

John F. McNulty, Linthicum, vice John B. Rickert, resigned.
Commission issued as of May 24, 1946.

Ralph W. Lowman, Brooklyn, vice W. Benton Shipley, re-
signed. Commission issued as of May 24, 1946.

Ralph George Shure, Takoma Park, vice James W. Gill, re-
signed. Commission issued as of August 5, 1946.

Rudolph A. Carrico, La Plata, vice James E. Mathews, de-
ceased. Commission issued as of December 12, 1946.

James C. Morton, Annapolis, vice Albert W. Woodfield, de-
ceased. Commission issued as of December 16, 1946.
