HARRY W. NICE, GOVERNOR. 1311

tent of the waters of Somerset County is not sufficient for
the raising of crabs and that the expenditure of funds for
this purpose would be useless. I have, therefore, vetoed the
bill.

CRESAPTOWN.

Chapter 295, House Bill 362, incorporates the town of
Cresaptown, in Allegany County.

There was considerable protest against this bill and I
have, therefore, vetoed it.

CRIMINAL LAWS.

The following bills, amending sections of Article 27 of
the Annotated Code relating to "Crimes and Punishments, "
were passed:

Chapter 286, House Bill 382, adds a new section to Article
27, more specifically defining the crime of burglary.

Chapter 386, House Bill 383, amends the law relating to
the punishment for manslaughter wherein death ensues as
the result of the driving of a motor or other vehicle.

Chapter 573, Senate Bill 271, adds a new section to
Article 27, relating to receiving stolen goods, money or
securities.

Chapters 286 and 573 seem to be inconsistent with the
O'Dunne Act and I have, therefore, vetoed them.

I have vetoed Chapter 386, as I believe the punishment
for this offense should be left in the discretion of the Court.

DANCING IN DORCHESTER COUNTY.

Chapter 178, House Bill 449, would make it unlawful to
permit dancing in certain places between certain hours.

No convincing reason was advanced for the approval of
this bill and I have, therefore, vetoed it.

DUPLICATE BILLS.

Chapter 138, House Bill 412, relating to building associa-
tions, is a duplicate of Chapter 567, Senate Bill 165, which
has been signed.

Chapter 139, House Bill 211, relating to unredeemed
shares in building associations, is a duplicate of Chapter
474, Senate Bill 166, which has been signed.

Chapter 143, House Bill 181, relating to additional writs
of attachment, is a duplicate of Chapter 546, Senate Bill
120, which has been signed.
