1448                                 VETOES.

CONSERVATION BILLS.

Fines and Proceeds of Forfeited Property.
(Chapter 178 House Bill No. 154. )

This bill provides that all fines imposed under the fishing-
laws and the net proceeds of sales of property forfeited under
such laws shall be paid into the State Game Protection Fund.
These fines are imposed and the property is forfeited for vari-
ous kinds of offenses, and, under the present law, they are paid
into the general conservation fund and the Conservation De-
partment makes a. proper adjustment with the State Game
Department for the portion of the funds which should be allo-
cated to it. The bill will be vetoed, because monies received
from game and non-game sources should not all go into the
State Game Protection Fund. These monies should go, as at
present, into the conservation fund.

Potomac River.
(Chapter 223, House Bill No. 486. )

This bill relates to permits for catching oysters in certain
areas of the Potomac River. It will be vetoed, because it is
in apparent conflict with Chapter 517, Senate Bill No. 192,
which closes the Potomac River to dredging and which has
already been approved.

DUPLICATE BILLS.

The provisions of Chapter 167, House Bill No. 247, relat-
ing to Rock fishing, is incorporated in Chapter 442, Senate
Bill No. 268; the provisions of Chapter 138, House Bill No.
324, relating to dip nets in Washington County, are incorpo-
rated in Chapter 442, Senate Bill No. 268; the provisions
of Chapter 513, Senate Bill No. Ill, relating to wild fowl,
are incorporated in Chapter 528, House Bill No. 272; Chapter
259, Senate Bill No. 40, relating to the forfeiture of corporate
charters, is superseded by Chapter 381, Senate Bill No. 214,
which amends the same section, and Chapter 284, Senate
Bill No. 58, on the subject of equity practice, is covered by
Chapter 504, Senate. Bill No. 297.

For these reasons these five bills will be vetoed.
