1712 JOINT RESOLUTIONS.

WHEREAS, The second Sunday in May is commonly known
and celebrated as Mother's Day; and

WHEREAS, The celebration of this day will deepen home ties
and inspire better homes and closer union between the State,
its homes and their sons and daughters, now therefore be it

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
Governor of this State be and he is hereby requested to issue
annually a proclamation officially designating the second
Sunday in May as Mother's Day and calling upon all State
officials to display the United States Flag on all State and
school buildings and the people of our State to display the
Flag at their homes, churches, lodges, places of business and
other suitable places on said day in honor of the Mothers of
this State.
