To the Clerk of the Court of Appeals:

I, BERTRAM L. BOONE, II, SECRETARY OF STATE OF THE STATE
OF MARYLAND, pursuant to the direction contained in Section
203 of Article 33 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1947
Supplement), DO HEREBY CERTIFY,, That at the General Election
held in this State on Tuesday, November 2, 1948, an Act
known as Chapter 59 of the Special Session of the General
Assembly ofx 1948, was submitted to the voters of Howard
County, for their adoption or rejection under the provisions
thereof, said Act being:

"An Act to add a new section to Article 27 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1947 Supplement) making it
lawful to hold or conduct carnivals, bazaars or raffles
by certain organizations or corporations for the bene-
fit of volunteer fire companies, or of certain fraternal,
civic, war veterans, religious or charitable organiza-
tions or corporations in Howard County. "

AND i DO CERTIFY, That at said election 3, 224 votes were
cast in favor of the adoption of Chapter 59 of the Acts of the
Special Session of 1948, and 739 votes were cast against the
adoption of said Act, and a majority being cast for the adop-
tion of the said referred law it has therefore been ratified by
the voters of Howard County.
