ROBERT WRIGHT, ESQUIRE, GOVERNOR. NOVEMBER.

1807.

simple of the estate of Gortmore, situate in the parish and barony of Cloher and county of Tyronne,
in Ireland; of which said estate the said Elizabeth Burney Landrum, and Mary Burney Armstrong,
the wife of the said Robert Armstrong, are the only heirs; and also that the possession of the said
estate being illegally withheld from the said Robert Armstrong, and Mary his wife, and Elizabeth
Burney Landrum, they are unable to establish their right to the same, without the actual production
of the said original will before the tribunal in Ireland, where their title to the said estate will be
tried; therefore,

II. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the register of wills for Baltimore
county be and he is hereby authorised and directed to deliver over to the said Robert Armstrong and
Elizabeth Burney Landrum, upon their application for the same, the said original last will and tes-
tament of the said Robert Burney,

Will to be de-
livered, &c.

An ACT for the relief and benefit of the poor, and trustees of the
poor, of Washington county.

Passed 15th of
January, 1808.

WHEREAS it is represented to this general assembly, by the petition of the trustees of the
poor, and sundry other inhabitants of Washington county, that the number of infirm and
indigent persons received in the poor-house of said county have greatly increased, and that the sum
now levied for their support is inadequate to that purpose, and that the said trustees have already ad-
vanced from their own funds a large sum of money towards the support of the poor of the said coun-
ty: And whereas it is just that the said trustees should be refunded the sum so as aforesaid advanced
by them; therefore,

Preamble.

II. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the levy court of Washington coun-
ty be and they are hereby authorised and empowered to levy annually in the usual manner, in said
county, such additional sum or sums of money, as to them may appear: necessary, to reimburse to
the said trustees the money so as aforesaid advanced by them, and for the support and accommoda-
tion of the poor of said county, (not exceeding one shilling and ten-pence halfpenny current money
in the hundred pounds, ) which said sum or sums of money, when collected, shall be paid over by
the collector of the said county to the order of the said trustees, or a majority of them, under their
common seal, who are hereby authorised and required to apply the same to the purposes herein be-
fore mentioned.

CHAP. XIV.

Court to levy
money, &c.

An ACT to alter the time of holding the county courts of Queen-
Anne's county.

BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That from and after the passage of this act,
the county courts for Queen-Anne's county shall be held on the first Monday of May and on
the third Monday of October in every year hereafter, any law to the contrary notwithstanding; and

that all causes, plea's, process and proceedings, civil and criminal, now depending in the said county
courts, or hereafter to be issued therefrom, shall be continued and returnable to the said days re-
spectively.

CHAP. XV,

Courts, when
to be held, &c.

A Supplement to an act, entitled, An act relating to the public roads
in the several counties therein mentioned.

Passed 15th of
January, 1808.

WHEREAS it is represented to this general assembly, that the number of overseers of the road
limitted for Dorchester county by the act to which this is a supplement, from the extent of
some of the hundreds in said county, and the low and muddy nature of the roads leading through
the same, are found insufficient for the purposes contemplated in said act; therefore,

II. BE IT ENACTED, by the. General Assembly of Maryland, That the justices of the levy court of
Dorchester county, or a majority of them, be and they are hereby authorised and empowered to ap-
point, at their annual meetings, as many overseers of the roads in the several hundreds, as they
shall deem necessary for keeping the said roads in due repair.

III. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the several overseers so appointed shall receive the same sum
for their services as the overseers are entitled to receive under the act to which this is a supple-
ment.
