332           Joint Resolutions

Whereas, it would be highly desirable to eliminate these
obsolete sections from Article 27 and also to standardize
and simplify those laws which are phrased ambiguously;
and

Whereas, attention has also been called to the confusion
resulting from those parts of Article 27 which have only
partial application throughout the State; now therefore,
be it

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the Governor be requested to appoint a commission to study
and revise Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
in order to eliminate therefrom all obsolete and out-moded
laws and to simplify and modernize those parts of the
Article which still have force, as well as to consider stand-
ardization of those parts of Article 27 which are state
wide in application; and be it further

Resolved, That the Governor fee requested te appoint on
this commission

SENTATIVES OF THE STATE'S ATTORNEY'S ASSO-
CIATION, TWO MEMBERS OF THE BAR ENGAGED
IN THE ACTIVE PRACTICE OF CRIMINAL LAW IN
MARYLAND, ONE LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIAL
OF MARYLAND, ONE TEACHER OF CRIMINOLOGY
OR CRIMINAL LAW IN MARYLAND, AND ONE OUT-
STANDING CITIZEN NOT CONNECTED WITH THE
ADMINISTRATION OF CRIMINAL LAW; and be it
further

Resolved, That the Governor be requested to make avail-
able to said commission from contingent funds at his
disposal such monies as may be necessary to assist the
commission in its research and preparation of a new
Article 27; and be it further

Resolved, That the said commission be requested to make
a full and complete study of Article 27 as proposed by this,
resolution and to report back to the Governor and to
the General Assembly with its recommendations when its.
study has been concluded.
