CHAP. 363.

An act entitled, an act to pay the Journal of Accounts.

WHEREAS, it appears by the Journal of Accounts of
this session, that there is due from this State ihe sura of
forty-three thousand one hundred and thirteen dollars and
forty-two cents.

Preamble.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the treasurer be, and he is hereby authorised and
required to pay to the several persons, their executors,
administrators, assignees or orders, or to such of them
as shall apply to receive the same, the several sums
of monies allowed to them respectively, as they appear
to be settled and ascertained by the said Journal of Ac-
counts, out of any money now in the treasury, subject
to appropriation by the General Assembly.

CHAPTER 363.

An act to incorporate the Baltimore Club.

10, 1847.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Samuel W. Smith, Charles R. Carroll,
Samuel Tagart, I. Nevitt Steele, John Glenn, Gustav
W. Lurman and others, with their successors, officers
and members of said club be and they are hereby created
a corporation and body politic, by the name and style of
the Baltimore Club, and by that name, they and their
successors shall and may at all times hereafter be capable
in law to have, hold, receive and retain to them and their
successors, property, real and personal, to the amount of
twenty thousand dollars, and be capable in law to sue
and be sued, plead and be impleaded, answer and be
answered unto, defend and be defended in all or any
courts of law and equity, and before all or any judges,
officers or persons whatsoever in all actions, matters and
demands whatsoever, and have and use a common seal
if they deem the same necessary; to make all necessary
ordinances and by-laws, and in general have and exercise
the rights, privileges and immunities as by law are ne-
cessary or incident to corporations of this character, not
being inconsistent with the laws of this State, or of the
United States.
